Interesting story with quite a few staggering moments. Hair-raising even, for those who still have some. Angie.Fuchs clevery dismisses thoughts about backgrounds thanks to concentrating on the here and now and doing so in such a fashion that the reader is never taken to musings about what happened before. Clever also is telling a lot through what is *NOT* being said; through hints and thoughts that seem to hang in the air. There's always a risk in telling a story like "Broken" through the eyes and thoughts of the person living the story, but Angie.Fuchs does a great job in portraying Miss Cathcart on her forced 'journey'. The story also manages to retain a serious level of erotiscism, regardless of the harsh treatment, or at least, the mutilations. For some reason, I liked the story more now than I did when I read it the first time around. Must be something I ate. Good, solid writing and the ability to keep the narrative from going over the top --even when it does go over it-- make "Broken" stand out from similarly themed stories. Nice. JJ (9/10)
