Esteemed reader: If you are looking for an excellently delivered tale to accompany a dram of malt whisky and maybe raise your hackles in a cultivated shiver, read this story tonight. It did not light this reader's erotic fire, but it touched my imagination. Esteemed author: Apropos reasonable, have you perhaps read 'The Lottery' by Shirley Jackson? Thank you. This kind of storytelling is gold. (10/10)

- Whilst all good students read "The Lottery" if they attended school when I was but a lad, I must admit the inspiration for this one came from the original Scottish ballad. The story of Tam Lyn seemed just a bit too light and cheerful to be of pre christen Celtic origin and definitely to cute for my taste so I tweaked it a bit, then twisted it a bit more and voila a short story looking for a home.

Mad has developed yet another 'voice'! Very good. This one is in good old tradition of Fantasy/Horror (oops, SciFi)about...(spoiler deleted) akin to Lovecraft (without melanchonia, thank you). Central scene is mainly left to reader imagination. Very nice. Cute if somewhat tame twist ending. Matter-of-fact narration sets off nicely real contex... All in all break open a new keg of bitter for this laddie. Thanks for keeping the torch high up You can always sand whatsishisnaw on tour to other stone ring or try other ending: Blonde? Bautiful? Likes to travel, meet nice highlanders and get raped by an Old God? Hell you culd charge them! (and perhaps make a living?) Kidding. This is a real short story. Short stories end ... that's why they are short stories, not HIstories. By the way did they buid HadriOns wall alongide HadriAn's or .... (8/10)

- Ah yes I always thought I'd make my living in Fanta.. (Oops SciFi) when I grew up. We're still waiting. I'll cheerfully swap a pint for a tale and they don't needs' both be all that bitter. Your review and comments help make it worthwhile you have my thanks

- One of the joys of fiction is you can pick on dead roman emperors. If I can turn J.Caesar into J.Ceasar
surely you wouldn't begrudge me a poke at the more obscure Hadrian who's name was to close to Hard on and might have offended the gentle readers Yours Mad Lews

- 'ello Sweep,
I kind of wrote this as a short story with a definite final twist at the end. Not sure how I'd turn it into more but you and Ruby think it could be done. I'll think on it and I'm open to suggestions. Thanks for the review; it means a lot. Mad

I reallly enjoyed this short story. Of course, I wanted more of everything, this would make a great prologue to a much bigger tale. (10/10)

Well this was certainly different from your usual run of the mill, and to be honest, it wasn't really written in an erotic style. I almost expected to see a highlander in full kilt and brogue explaining this all to me. As for fiction, it makes me want to go check out the facts...historical fiction? The writing was great, just a surprise for this website. (8/10)

- Yup surprise!! I was a little surprised too that it got on the site. More PG-13 than R but an interesting story none the less. History, legend, historic fiction, a bit of a mix of all three. The trick is to add just enough fact to make the history malleable, then quickly mix in equal parts legend and fiction. You just can't miss.
