I guess there should be a 'sick' tag so that readers like kicksnf wouldn't get so shocked (he didn't seem to mind snuff content though). Anyway, this story is just brilliant in its genre, I guess that in general too, but I doubt an average person would endure such reading. I especially liked two things: slowing down the action in order to pay more attention to preparations to the execution, and adding secondary characters (convicts) so that the executions could be described from two different points of view. I'd love it if there was more prison-time action, but I rate it 10 nevertheless. Gonna check other Michelle Byssom's stories asap. (10/10)

- How wonderful to receive such an emotional response to my words! Although you need to work on your powers of expression, I appreciate the depth of your feeling. Yes, it IS sick and disgusting although I wonder about the 'plain.' That's what I try to specialise in: the sick and the disgusting rendered in well-wrought prose: to create that aesthetic disconnect worthy of Huysmans or perhaps even (dare I?) Flaubert.

An astounding, beautifully written and executed (if you'll excuse the pun) story, which is what we expect from Michelle. The dreamy quality that dominates the story makes it that much more appealing. Because it's so good, I was left wanting more, but everything that needs to be said is said. One recommended for sadists and masochists alike. (10/10)

There are so many tales of crucifixion on this site it is, dare I say nice? to see some variation. Although the end is more cruel than most of us suffer, the disillusioning arc from child to adult and age is neatly presented. Your writing continues to enchant. (9/10)

Not bad at all. I would have liked to see some more background (it is a world not our own, after all) provided such information did not detract from the tale. I would also like to congratulate you on the crafting and editing of this tale. Both were quite good, with a real sense of rhythm pervading the last half. (8/10)

Impeccable writing. The authoress is verrry good at hooking the reader. She presented such a 'real' character that I wanted to say 'Fight Maria.' It is a dark story of naivete peppered with black cruelty. If ever there was a bleak storyline for an innocent protagonist that screams 'doormat,' this is it. The only thing I can fault the writer for is the absolute dearth of hope for Maria. (10/10)

Well-written, with many wonderful asides hinting at a fully realised, if not fully revealed world. Not entirely my cuppa' in terms of type of death, but still very good. (8/10)

Very well written graphic tale based upon an ancient form of execution. The art of this tale is Michelle Byssom's ability to make the unimaginable suffering deliciously sensual. (10/10)

Well Done! I, of course, would prefer that the girl be used by the guards while waiting for execution, but then one cannot have everything! Nice job of getting inside her head. (8/10)

The author holds you captive from the beginning until the end. You can visualize and feel exactly what these women went through. (8/10)
